Online Currency Declaration
Please read the following Information before proceeding to the Currency Declaration
This Interface pertains to the electronic submission of Currency Declaration Forms by inbound, outbound or transit passengers under Section 131A of the Customs Act which provides, inter alia, that
"Any person, making a physical cross-border transportation of currency or bearer negotiable instruments or precious stones and metals including gold, diamond and jewellery or any goods of high value including work of arts of an amount exceeding 500,000 Mauritian Rupees or its equivalent in foreign currency, who-
(a) fails, or when so required refuses, to make a declaration under Section 131A(5)(a) and 131A(5)(b) respectively;
(b) makes a declaration which is false or misleading in any material particular under Section 131A(c); or
(c) without reasonable excuse, refuses to answer questions on the particulars of that declaration made, under Section 131A(d),
shall commit an offence and shall on conviction be liable to a fine not less than 20 percent of the whole amount which is subject matter of the offence but not exceeding 2 million rupees and to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years."
